Season 2, episode 120142 min read

The PC

An Army family, a computer craze, and a Reliance dongle that connected me to everything that came next.

The craze

We moved every year or two with my dad’s Army postings, and there was never a computer at home. In engineering, the internet was new and computers were a craze. At the end of my second year, in 2014, I pushed my dad until he bought me one.

The dongle

There was no internet connection at home, so I bought a Reliance dongle. I was super excited. I scrolled Facebook, posted statuses I find cringe now, watched YouTube and played Assassin’s Creed.

The other half

I never let it touch my grades. I never failed a class, and I finished engineering without a single backlog.
